In 1926, legendary Tel-Aviv photographer, Abraham Soskin, published the album “Tel Aviv Views”, which depicted the small town of Tel-Aviv of those days. In 2009, photographer Ran Erde took photos of the exact same places.
This album places the historical and contemporary photographs side by side. Avraham Soskin (Russia, 1881-1963) who spent his last years in Tel-Aviv, was a Jewish photographer. He was known as “The photographer of Tel Aviv”, having pictured the famous draw of land plots in “Ahuzat Bayit”, the neighborhood from which the city formed. Ran Erde is a renowned architectural photographer, based in Tel Aviv.

We started in 1936 as an active photo house on 30 Allenby Street, Tel Aviv. More than once visitors come here and lose a sense of time as they browse through the variety of products, books and archive albums and develop in-depth conversations with our small and warmly staff.

OUR SALON

The PhotoHouse Salon is a magical and intimate space, designed in the style of the 60s. A space where there is no sense of time :)

Our salon is used as a cultural venue for lectures, workshops and exhibitions, It hosts our photography studio and is also available for rent for private events.

OUR ARCHIVE

Rudi Wiesenstein, the founder of The PhotoHouse, documented the events of the developing country and its inhabitants for 50 decades and cultivated a magnificent archive with over a million negatives that we preserve in The PhotoHouse.
