120.00 ₪Grandma Skipper is an artist's book/graphic novel for adults - an invitation to peer into holes, engage in a dialogue with few words, dive into illustrations that make a nostalgic quaff, and meet Grandma. Actually, two grandmothers.
The book was born from a joint exhibition full of lace, Formica, and porcelain that was presented as part of Illustration Week 2018 by writer Sivan Ziv Wind and illustrator Li-Or Atzmon Froin. The exhibition was adapted into a graphic novel, which copies the wandering journey of memories of the two grandmothers, respectively, from the gallery space to the book space.
The book focuses on the gaps between text and illustration, thus formulating the holes that the creators of previous editions "inherited." The hole, the more one thinks about it and passes it from writer to illustrator, becomes a world in itself, material, with volume and texture. At the same time, it is also elusive and ungraspable, and while it allows a glimpse into the past, it also creates longing for it and accelerates its distance.
